Making an Impact in Learning Support

Nav-Logo

Who are we? The Specialist Teaching Programme is creating ripples of impact across Learning Support in Aotearoa New Zealand. The Programme offers experienced teachers opportunities for advanced part time study alongside their workplace practice to become Specialist Resource Teachers. Specialist learning areas include: Blind and Low Vision, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Complex Educational Needs, Early Intervention, Gifted, Learning and Behaviour, and Kōhanga Reo.

Programme Impact! Data from the Programme show that Specialist Resource Teachers gain evidence-based knowledge and skills to better meet the learning needs, wellbeing and inclusion of all tamariki.

Sector impact! Impactful individual practice ripples out as support for kaiako, whānau, tamariki and other practitioners, and extends further to impact a national learning support service. View this website for the ripples of impact over 2025.

The Specialist Teaching Programme acknowledges the Ministry of Education and sector partners.
These partnerships contribute to the ongoing success and impact of the programme.
